This schedule provides the dates and registration information for IDI Level Three courses presented by the POST certified presenter; San Diego Regional Training Center (SDRTC). To register for any Level Three courses use the REGISTRATION ICON .

Certification at the Advanced Level (Level 3) requires:
  • Successful completion of the Level Three Advanced Instructor Development Core Course
  • Successful completion of the 16-hr IDI Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching Course
  • Successful completion of a 16-hr coaching and mentoring practicum
    • 8 hours being mentored
    • 8 hours coaching and mentoring an instructor(s)

POST IDI Advanced “Core” Course
The purpose of this course is to further develop the instructor skills of the POST instructor who has attended and been certified at IDI Level Two. Upon completion of this course, the 16-hour Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching Course and a mentoring practicum, the instructor will be certified at IDI Level Three.

This 40-hour Core Course and 16-hour Teach Back Session provides additional instructor development skills while designing or enhancing a module of instruction they currently teach or are designated to teach. IDI Level Three Certification is required to begin the Level Four Master Instructor Certification Course. This core course will reinforce and provide the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned during IDI Level One and Two training.   A special course for ICII Graduates is also available for a limited time period.

Applying Adult Learning Developing Lesson Plans (The Course Roadmap) Application of Research Methods
 
Experienced- based Activities Alternative Training Methodologies The Course Design Process – Instructional Systems Design
POST IDI Advanced Course Phase I
Those attending this program will work on an actual module of instruction the instructor/student currently teaches or will teach.   They should bring all course material related to the selected module as well as the goal and expanded course outline for the course their module is included within (their module should typically be a portion of a larger course- for example the Emergency Management module (LD 43) that is a portion of the Regular Basic Course).

A personal laptop computer and the ability to access email while in travel is required. The classroom will have wireless connectivity and many of the activities require the use of a computer. If you only have agency email and cannot access it while in travel status establishing a free email account prior to attendance with one of the free services (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) will be expected.

You will be doing work to enhance your present module of instruction. Please bring any related course material (course goal, lesson plans, handouts, etc). to this course with you to assist you in this portion of the course.

The course is designed for active, hands-on participation by the students. Course work will include research, active training, group activities and practice applying facilitation skills.

POST IDI Level Three SPECIAL Advanced Instructor Development Course for ICII Graduates Only


To satisfy all of the IDI Level Three requirements graduates of this course must attend the 16-hour Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching Course

Note: The .ICI Graduate has been mentored as a part of the ICII Course. They will therefore only have to complete two of the three requirements in the Level Three Practicum.
     -     8 hours being mentored (not required for ICII graduates; requirement met during ICII)
     -     8 hours coaching and mentoring an instructor(s)
   
     -     Attend the 16-hour 8 hours Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching Course

This Special Program is not expected to be offered in the future.

Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring Course– 16 Hour – IDI Level 3 requirement
The Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring Course is a requirement for certification at IDI Level 3. For complete information please call the contact person and see the attached flier.
The purpose of this course is to further develop the instructor knowledge and skills of the POST instructor who is interested in furthering their skills in leadership, mentoring and coaching as an instructor. While this course is a requirement for all who wish to earn advanced level certification, any law enforcement instructor may attend the course. This is an opportunity to increase your knowledge and skills in this critically important area of training.

This course is designed for active, hands-on participation by the students. Course work will include learning activities and other hands on practical exercises.
